Hip hop elite gathered at the Watch the Throne “pop up store” in NYC’s SoHo neighborhood over the weekend. The store, set up temporarily, offers albums, pictures and a look at that stripped down Maybach from the “Otis” video. Its exact location is 21 Mulberry St.
#Sigh, I wish I could’ve been there. Pics include Jay-Z, Memphis Bleek and Swizz Beatz.
Watch the video below to see Beyonce’s arrival. The fans went cray cray….no surprise there.
There is no comparison between Lil’ Wayne & Drake’s forthcoming collaborative album according to Birdman. The Cash Money CEO sat down with xxlmag.com to discuss this and what sets them about from Jay and Kanye. Birdman almost immediately went in on how this album shouldn’t be compared to “Watch The Throne”:
“It’s older versus younger. “I listened to a few songs [off Watch The Throne] and it feels like an older feel to me. I think with Drake and Wayne, they young. They young cats. You got 23 and 28. Then you got Jay-Z and them, who are older and really on their way out the game. Then you got Wayne and Drake and them, who are still youthful to the game. So, it’s two different types of music all the way across the board.”
Other than discussing their age group Birdman gave his props for what the duo has done for rap:
“But what they’re doing is great. “I think it’s great for the game, great for the business, great for retail as a whole. I just think when Wayne and Drake get together is going to be something real special also because we more youthful.”
Do you agree with Birdman??
Once “Otis” first dropped on the radio there was no doubt that the song was a hit. With the lyrics following effortlessly from Jay and Ye, Mr. Redding gives the track life. Amped and ready to take over the world Kanye and Jay deliver. Directed by Spike Jonze this video doesn’t disappoint.
We’ve been waiting for what seems like forever for a J. Cole album; but the rapper himself has been waiting even longer for a Jay-Z verse. Vibe.com caught up with the RocNation’s first signee at a private concert put on by Heineken Red Star and Roc Nation. Almost a month from the release of Cole World: The Sideline Story, Cole still doesn’t have a verse from his boss:
“I’m texting this man everyday. It might happen—he’s got like four or five days. It’s like a Christmas present—I just want it to come. I’m not harassing this man, anymore.”
He also says that instead of joining the “Watch the Throne Tour,” he will embark on his own:
“I’m got my own tour starting at the end of August in Canada, then the States in Sept—UK in October, November, December.”
Cole calls his “Any Given Sunday” series pretty random:
“It’s pretty random. I got a couple I know I’ma do already. I wake up like ‘what do I want to put out today.’ So it’s not always going to be five songs, three songs. Like this week coming up might just be a song. The week after that it might just be a video.”
When asked about the visuals for the Trey Songz assisted “Can’t Get Enough,” he calls it “Big Pimpin’ Pt. 2.” Love it!! Watch the interview below:
We all know Affion Crockett for his dead-on impersonations of hip-hop celebrities in his stand up and on MTV’s Wild N’ Out. The comedian is stepping out on his own with a show on FOX produced by Jamie Foxx. In the Flow will be a sketch comedy show with an urban twist and feature guests each week.
This week, he released a YouTube clip promoting the show. In it, he sounds and looks the part as he impersonates Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and his prodigy Cory Gunz.
It is HILARIOUS to say the least. In the Flow premieres this Sunday, August 14. Will you be watching?

Kanye West, Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce take us on a ride as they “Lift Off“. Everyone is dying to hear the album and for those that haven’t yet downloaded from iTunes that tracks are coming out. Predicted sales for Watch The Throne are very high, so take a listen to the track and see if it’ll be worth it.
