Lady Gaga Tops Forbes 100 List

Needless to say, Lady Gaga has had a good couple of years.  She’s gone from being an unknown to being the biggest popstar in the world, covering every magazine and creating the most anticipated album in years.  But, what really says success? Topping Oprah.

And that’s just what Mother Monster has done.  According to MTV,  she is #1 on the Forbes 100 list released this Wednesday.  She moved up four spots from last year due to her social media presence, earnings, and industry power.  She’s earned $90 million in the last year, and accumulated 32 million Facebook fans and 10 million Twitter followers.

How else does she qualify.  1 million downloads of “Born this Way” in 5 days, endorsement deals with plentyoffish.com and MAC makeup, and 15 million albums sold worldwide.

“Lady Gaga beat Oprah this year because of her social media power. She can use Twitter and Facebook to work the ‘little monsters’ into a frenzy that leads to record sales and media attention,” Forbes editor Dorothy Pomerantz told Reuters. “She’s the best example of how celebrities will need to manage their careers in the coming years.”

In related news, Justin Bieber made his debut as youngest person on the list.  He holds down the #3 spot for an estimated $53 million in earnings from album and concert sales, and his Never Say Never movie.

Others on the list include:

Angelina Jolie (#11), Katy Perry (#12), Johnny Depp (#13), Leonardo DiCaprio (#15), the Black Eyed Peas (#16), “American Idol” host and media mogul Ryan Seacrest (#24), former TV star Charlie Sheen (#28), Beyoncé (#29), Usher (#32), Muse (#34), Jay-Z (#38), “Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez (#50), Diddy (#52), Robert Pattinson (#53), Kristen Stewart (#63), Eminem (#71), Kanye West (#76) and Lil Wayne (#85)
