‘Watch the Throne’ #1 on Billboard 200

Last week, Jay-Z and Kanye West set an Itunes record when they sold 290,000 in digital downloads.  This week, combined with physical sales, Watch the Throne is the number one album on the Billboard 200 with 426.661 total albums sold.

Another notable debut on the charts is Ace Hood’s Blood, Sweat and Tears.  The Miami rapper’s album debuts at the #10 spot with a little over 25K sold.  Adele and Beyonce both remain in the top 10; Adele sold an additional 73,000 copies of the record shattering 21 and Beyonce’s 4 sits comfortably in the #8 spot with 27K sold.

Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame’s Ferrari Boyz debuts just outside the top 20 at the #24 spot with about 15K copies sold.

Beyonce and Adele Continue Billboard Reign; Lloyd Debuts in Top 10

The divas rule the Billboard 200 this week.

Beyonce’s 4 takes the top spot for a second week in a row, selling an additional 111,464 copies.  Adele holds down the second spot while Selena Gomez and The Scene debut at the number four spot with When the Sun Goes Down.  Jill Scott’s Light of the Sun drops down to the number 7 spot after debuting at #1 a few weeks back.

Honorable mentions go to Lloyd’s King of Hearts which debuted at the #10 spot and Big Sean, whose debut album Finally Famous is still in the top 10 as well.

Unconventional Rules the Billboard Charts

Numbers are in for the previous week’s album sales, and it looks like a congratulations are in order for some guys.

Funny guys The Lonely Island have landed at the #3 spot with 68,000 copies sold of Turtleneck and Chain, the follow-up to Incredibad, which debuted at the #13 spot in 2009. Chain features collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Akon and more.  Two spots behind is Odd Future’s Tyler, the Creator, whose sophomore effort Goblin debuted at the number 5 spot with 50,000k sold.  A very excited Tyler tweeted the following after seeing the numbers for himself:

“I AM THAT NI**A RIGHT NOW FUCK HARD WORK PAYED OFF YOU CANT TELL ME SHIT NI**UH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” exclaimed an excitedTyler. “50k Is So Much. Like, For Me, Maybe Not To You Guys Whos Used To Mariah Or BOB Selling Millions. Damn, This Is Fucking Wild Fuck.”

He’s so “eloquent.” Adele’s 21 remains in the top spot for the 8th week in a row.  Jennifer Lopez’s LOVE? dropped from 5-9 with another 33,000 sold.

Chris Brown Is #1 On The Billboard Charts

Predictions indicated that Chris Brown’s newest album “F.A.M.E.” would hit the number one spot and it has! Chris Brown has sealed the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 this week beating out the competition that was Jennifer Hudson with her “I Remember Me” album.

The album has sold an outstanding 273k copies an entire 100k more than Jennifer and is the very first time Chris Brown has had a number one album. This is a huge increase from sales of his last album “Graffiti“, it’s definitely safe to say that Chris Brown is back!! Congrats!


Lupe Fiasco's "Lasers" Tops the Charts

 

Lupe Fiasco has had lots of drama with his record label over the past couple of years and it’s been a rough road to release his latest work, but he has prevailed.  His very much anticipated third album Lasers, debuted at the number one spot on the Billboard charts this week selling 204,000 copies, a career first for Lupe.

His debut album Food & Liquor, debuted at #8 with 81,000 copies sold.  His sophomore album The Cool, came in at the No. 15 spot with 143,000 in 2007.

This is great news.  Lupe is a true lyricist and a great artists.  He is one of the few rappers that fought for his own creativity and control and ultimately got it.  Congrats!!!

Kid Cudi and Cee-Lo Make Top 10 Billboard Debuts

 

Congrats are in order for Cee-Lo and Kid Cudi!

This week, they both made a splash on the Billboard 200.  Kid Cudi’s “Man on the Moon II: Legend of Mr. Rager,” debuted at number three behind Susan Boyle and Taylor Swift, selling 169,000.  That’s an improvement from his first album which debuted at #4 almost two years ago.  Cee-Lo’s LP “The Lady Killer” debuted at #4 with 42,000 copies sold.

I love both of these artists.  They’re both innovative and extremely creative.  Congrats, boys!
