John Mayer, who was once considered the King of Twitter, now admits that he may have used it too much. In an interview with Rolling Stone, the “Heartbreak Warfare” singer talks about how his addiction eventually became too much:
“I was a tweetaholic. I had four million Twitter followers, and I was always writing on it. And I stopped using Twitter as an outlet and I started using Twitter as the instrument to riff on, and it started to make my mind smaller and smaller and smaller. And I couldn’t write a song.”
Now tweet-free, Mayer has a fresh strategy when it comes to creating new music:
“Here are the rules for recording this record: No drum machines, no loops, no keyboards to start out with, no excuses, no breaks, no laptops, no nothing. If you take a break, it’s to eat. If you’re done, you go home.”
I like his new attitude.
Timbaland has been saying for some time that he wants to work with Disney starlet Demi Lovato and it looks like his dream came true. Timbo tweeted the above photo of him and the “Skyscraper” singer in the studio.
“me and demi @demilovato workin on a hit baby!,” he tweeted.
Woah. Peep all the plaques in the back. That’s a lot of hits. Can’t wait to hear what kind of sounds this collaboration brings.
Demi’s most recent hit, “Skyscraper:”
How many of you stayed up to watch the premiere of “The 90’s Are All That?” In case you aren’t in the know, Nick Cannon and the folks at TeenNick have put together a two hour block of 1990’s Nickelodeon television shows to air every weeknight at midnight. Shows included are Doug, The Adventures of Pete & Pete, All That, Clarissa Explains it All, Double Dare, The Ren & Stimpy Show and Salute Your Shorts.
Keith Dawkins, senior VP and general manager of TeenNick had this to say after announcing the rebroadcasting of the fan favorites:
“At the time, we were completely devoted to that audience ages 9, 10, and 11. It was ground-breaking and for the young viewers, a powerful and pivotal time in their lives. Those kids who are now 22, 23 and 24 want to bring that back.”
Since premiering last night, it has remained a trending topic on Facebook and Twitter. As of this morning, Doug is the top trending topic on Google and Kenan & Kel are the top trending topic on Twitter.
Were you tuned in to “90’s Are All That?” Are you surprised by its success?
The show will go on for Lupe Fiasco….just not on Twitter.
Today, he announced that he would be leaving the social networking site without giving a specific reason:
“i’m quitting twitter. it was fun while it lasted. thanks for the support on #lasers and i will see you all on the road soon… don’t forget…Love Always Shines Everytime Remember 2 Smile….”
He then passed his account to singer Nikki Jean, who is featured on his album Lasers. She immediately started promoting her music and changed the background to a picture of her upcoming album.
“Big thank you to @LupeFiasco for supporting my record. He won’t be gone for too long.. Promise ;-)”
Hmmmm….does this mean he’ll be back for more Twitter action? Many celebs (Cassie, Kid Cudi) have shut down their accounts, only to activate them again.
I don’t know whether to laugh or feel bad.
When news broke that Casey Anthony got a not guilty verdict (She claimed that she accidentally drowned her daughter and tried to cover up the death), all of the celebs in the Twitterverse expressed their frustration with the jury’s decision, including reality starlet Kim Kardashian. She had this to say:
“WHAT!!!!???!!!! CASEY ANTHONY FOUND NOT GUILTY!!!I am speechless!!!”
In case you didn’t know, Kim’s father, the now deceased Robert Kardashian, was OJ Simpson’s lawyer during his case. Outspoken Bill Maher had this to say in response to Kim’s tweet:
“Kim Kardashian is upset with Casey Anthony verdict? Ur father defended O.J.! Starting the Kardashian tradition of getting black men off”
DAMN! Kim didn’t directly respond to Maher, but she did have this to say to those who opposed her tweet:
“Reading the comments here & its nuts people think just because I was close to the OJ trial I can’t have my own opinion on the Casey Anthony case?”
Bow Wow has never been one to hold his tongue when it comes to his Twitter account and today, he decided to vent on his views of the music industry. In the series of tweets below, you will see that the Cash Money signee is frustrated with not having his music released and hearing the same rappers on the radio. Bow Wow went off via Twitter earlier this week when pictures of a baby rumored to be his newborn daughter circulated. He claims that he isn’t a father and the rumors of him being one are false. Read the tweets below:
For the past month or so, I’ve seen a handful of rappers complain about not having music released or being unfairly. Most people think that the music business is all flashing lights, but instances like these let us know that at the end of the day, being famous is irrelevant to albums being released.
Amber Rose became the talk of the blogosphere when very explicit nude photos were leaked of her once again. This time, she’s completely nude and touching her lady parts in various positions. We’re classy here, so if you want to see them, you can visit MediaTakeOut -_-.
Miss Rose is very upset about having her goodies put on display for a second time this year and vented her frustration via Twitter:
“I was gonna wait until my radio show to address this but I want to say this now. I trusted someone that worked [for] me and allowed them to use my laptop a million times. I caught this person sending my pics to themselves and I fired this person immediately. Wiz and I and both of our families have known about this for 2 months now. We tried to prepare ourselves for this day. Those pictures [are] 2 1/2 years old just sitting in my computer. I’m really hurt and embarrassed because I have so many young girls that look up to me. I would never put those pics out of myself.
The company that I was working with no longer wants to work with me because of these pics and that prevents me from getting money to take care of my family. Its a messed up situation when someone so evil comes into ur life and tries to destroy it. I know I’m not the only girl in the world that has taken pics like that but they were very private. I’m sorry for letting my young Rosebuds down. Pls understand this was a result of trusting a person that didn’t deserve my trust. I have cried for the past 2 days but I know this to shall p#!@%*#. Thank u for all of ur support.”
Part of me feels bad for Amber because I could only imagine the humiliation she feels. However, as a public figure, she should know that anything on the computer is up for grabs- people love scandal and if they are within reach of it, they will grab it.
Amber seems to be trying hard to clean up her bad girl image now that she’s with Wiz…maybe she should’ve cleaned up her computer first #imjustsayin
