Lady Gaga is sure to cement her place in pop culture history after this one.
The Born This Way singer will have an entire episode of the never-ending The Simpsons. In the episode titled “Lisa Goes Gaga,” the singer will make her way to Springfield after hearing that the entire town has an epidemic of low self-esteem. Specifically, she will save a depressed Lisa. That’s cute.
Creator Matt Groening had this to say about Gaga: “Since the very beginning, I’ve always wanted to have on the most iconic personalities of our time, and she’s it.”
Mother Monster is also taking her part very seriously: “I make music, but I don’t do voice-overs every day of the week, and their characters are so awesomely convincing and sincere and wild and funny, I had to remind myself constantly of the sincerity of the humor. That’s what I was trying to focus on, not putting on a character too much and really being as sincere as I could with the lines. I would say this is one of the coolest things I’ve ever done. My dad’s probably going to do 80 backflips when the episode comes out.”
Her episode is set to air in 2012 during the show’s 23rd season, which debuts September 25. Will you be watching?!

When it comes to clothing brands and celebrities, the latter are usually paid to rock the hottest thing out. Today, in a surprise move, Abercrombie & Fitch offered money to Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino in exchange for him NOT wearing their clothes. That’s right folks; Abercrombie & Fitch don’t like the Jersey Shore.
The clothing company issued a press release this morning titled “A Win-Win Situation.” It reads:
“We are deeply concerned that Mr. Sorrentino’s association with our brand could cause significant damage to our image. We understand that the show is for entertainment purposes, but believe this association is contrary to the aspiration nature of our brand, and may be distressing to many of our fans…We have therefore offered a substantial payment to Michael ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino and the producers of MTV’s The Jersey Shore to have the character wear an alternate brand. We have also extended this offer to other members of the cast, and are urgently awaiting a response.”
What is ironic about this whole “situation” is that the company still sells their wildly popular “The Fitchuation” t-shirts online, which are no doubt inspired by the Jersey Shore cast member. Both MTV and Sorrentino have commented on the press release.
“It’s a clever PR stunt and we’d love to work with them on other ways they can leverage Jersey Shore to reach the largest youth audience on television,” said an MTV Spokesperson in a statement.
Sitch tweeted: “Looks like Abercrombie got themselves into a Situation!… “Thanks #SituationNation for always having my back and you are the best fans in the world! I love you guys!” He then posted a link to an article detailing the company’s steady decline in stocks. Yikes.
I agree with MTV. This is a great publicity stunt. Jersey Shore is still being watched by record numbers and Situation is more popular than ever. Let’s call a draw and keep it moving people!
The stars of Fox’s wildly popular Glee look like quite the fashion collective inside the pages of Vogue’s September issue. The cast has been named the spokespeople for “Fashion’s Night Out,” the annual fall ritual that “celebrates style and shopping, the joys of inventing your own look and having a ball while doing so.”
Glee creator Ryan Murphy dished on creating the looks for each character and Lea Michele’s red carpet evolution. Two of the show’s biggest stars, Lea Michele and Chris Colfer (who won a 2011 Golden Globe for his role), also talked fashion. Highlights below:
Ryan Murphy on his vision for each character’s individual style:
“From the beginning, I asked the costume designer to give each of these kids an archetypal identity. We didn’t want them to look like generic mall kids. Now their looks are being copied! On the show, they don’t get to wear designer clothes, except for Chris. In fact, people ask me all the time, ‘Where does he get those clothes in Ohio?’”
“When Glee started, I had no idea who Marc Jacobs was. In no way was I a fashion person! I did all my shopping at my small-town Target. Maybe if I dressed better I wouldn’t have had such a hard time in school. Now, as Kurt, I get to wear all these amazing things, by people whose names I can’t even pronounce.”
“I would never wear a sweater with an animal face!”
Ryan Murphy on Lea Michele’s evolving look:
“When I met Lea, she was only sort of interested in clothes— but in the last two years she’s become a red-carpet star. I think what happened is Lea went to an event, and someone said, ‘Oh, you look pretty.’ It was an interesting moment for her.”
Sidenote: Where is Amber Riley?!
Queen Latifah is taking her dancing feet to next season’s “Dancing With The Stars”. According to TMZ, the contract is being finalized. Most believe that the show is for D-list celebrities but I don’t feel that way.
When Queen Latifah hits the stage I’m quite sure she’s going to bring the flavor. The show’s next season will also include Rob Kardashian, Tiffani Amber Thiessen, and maybe, just may Snooki.
Will you be watching this season??
Affion Crockett stopped by MTV News producer Sway Calloway’s radio show yesterday to promote his new FOX show In the Flow. In the middle of his interview, Peter Gunz showed up ready to fight over the parody video he did impersonating Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and his son Cory Gunz.
Gunz, who showed up with a posse and a hoodie over his head, convinced everyone that he was serious, including Affion.
Let the hilarity ensue at the 1:20 mark:
