Ryan Murphy Confirms Major ‘Glee’ Stars Graduating From Show in Next Season
Sad, but realistic.
After rumors erupted that most of the kids from Glee would be leaving the show in the next season, fans went pretty much cray-cray demanding an explanation. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Glee creator Ryan Murphy announced that the show’s three biggest stars, Cory Monteith (Finn), Lea Michele (Rachel), and Chris Colfer (Kurt), will graduate from McKinley High at the end of season 3.
“You can keep them on the show for six years and people will criticize you for not being realistic, or you can be really true to life and say when they started the show they were very clearly sophomores and they should graduate at the end of their senior year.”
“The thing that I wanted to do and the cast wanted to do, we didn’t want to have a show where they were in high school for 8 years. We really wanted it to be true to that experience. We thought it would be really cool if we were true to the timeline.”
Murphy’s plan is to add new characters each new season. Come season 3, Darren Criss (Blaine) is promoted to season regular and the winner of The Glee Project will make his or her debut. Unfortunately, series regular Chord Overstreet has been cut from the show completely, but may return for some guest spots. Boo! I was looking forward to the Sam-Mercedes storyline!
What do you think of all of this? Do you think having the show’s biggest stars graduate will be a blessing or a curse??
