divaTunes: 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall' Coldplay

Coldplay make their long-awaited return to the spotlight with “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall,” the first single from their upcoming album dropping sometime this year.  It samples “I Go To Rio,” an old dance track by Peter Allen and Adrienne Anderson, who are credited as co-writers.

According to the Daily Record, Chris was inspired to write the song after watching the film Biutiful, starring Javier Bardem and directed by Alejandro Gonzalez.  In the movie, there is a nightclub scene where the song is playing in the background.

I really like it so far.  It has a super catchy beat and great lyrics:

I TURN THE MUSIC UP, I GOT MY RECORDS ON
I SHUT THE WORLD OUTSIDE UNTIL THE LIGHTS COME ON
MAYBE THE STREETS ALIGHT, MAYBE THE TREES ARE GONE
I FEEL MY HEART START BEATING TO MY FAVOURITE SONG

AND ALL THE KIDS THEY DANCE, ALL THE KIDS ALL NIGHT
UNTIL MONDAY MORNING FEELS ANOTHER LIFE
I TURN THE MUSIC UP
I’M ON A ROLL THIS TIME
AND HEAVEN IS IN SIGHT

Take a listen:
