The Revolution Will Not Be Televised: Gil Scott-Heron Passes Away At Age 62

The legendary musician and poet Gil Scott-Heron passed away on Friday May 27th 2011. The New York Times report,

A friend who answered the telephone listed for his Manhattan recording company confirms he died Friday afternoon at a hospital. Doris C. Nolan says he died after becoming sick upon returning from a European trip.

At the age of 62 he is most known for “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” and has been a hug inspiration to the rappers we know and love today.

Kanye West, Common, A Tribe Called Quest and  Talib Kweli can all vouch for this man’s inspiration on music. Some of his albums include Pieces Of A Man, Winter In America and he recently released a new album last year entitled I’m New Here.
