Video: Bill O’ Reilly and Jon Stewart Have a Debate Over Common
Last week, Common accepted an invitation from Michelle Obama to perform at the White House in celebration of American poetry and prose. Our country’s conservatives were not happy about this decision, citing Common’s past lyrics and certain actions as their reasoning. Jon Stewart invited the always controversial Bill O’Reilly on Fox News to have a talk about this debate.
O’Reilly stands with the conservatives (of course). He brought up the fact that Common has visited and supported criminals before ( black political activist, convicted cop killer and escaped convict Assata Shakur and Mumia Abu Jamal, who was convicted and sentenced to death for killing a police officer). Jon came with the rebuttal, citing other non-black musicians who have had controversial lyrics connected to murderers (Bob Dylan, Bono). Jon thinks Conservatives should be more consistent in their complaints and instead focus on more important issues. <<
