Lupe Fiasco’s “Lasers” Tops the Charts

Lupe Fiasco has had lots of drama with his record label over the past couple of years and it’s been a rough road to release his latest work, but he has prevailed.  His very much anticipated third album Lasers, debuted at the number one spot on the Billboard charts this week selling 204,000 copies, a career first for Lupe.

His debut album Food & Liquor, debuted at #8 with 81,000 copies sold.  His sophomore album The Cool, came in at the No. 15 spot with 143,000 in 2007.

This is great news.  Lupe is a true lyricist and a great artists.  He is one of the few rappers that fought for his own creativity and control and ultimately got it.  Congrats!!!
